Dreams

In the dark night when all is black,
bold dreams enter the mind so shy,
gaining courage which we often lack,
finding answers to the so many “whys”.

Colorful illusion, our mind in a whirl,
fantasy blended with reality in our head,
emotions spinning around with a twirl,
not knowing if you’re alive or dead.

In dreamland, time passes with speed,
utter confusion creates such commotion,
physical desires collide with basic needs,
trebling souls, searching for true devotion.

Realm of reality brings nightmarish shock,
curled up, feeling an uncontrollable shake,
dreams release the fears we attempt to block,
there is no escape, as it hits like a raging quake.

Messages of the mind, in dreams are sent,
distorted images appear in an instant flash,
perception clouded, for the meaning is bent,
truth, within the fantasy and reality clash.

If only we could record our dreams; it would be the best stream-of-consciousness movie of all time. However, your poem is the next best thing. Well done

The cdence is like a danc...a tango that spins its mystery and invites the pair to dance.
Inviting mind manipulating that eases on down the horror of nightmares.

A great depiction of dreams. I like the rhythm of this poem, and its flow.

Sam,

Perfectly rhymed, metered and stated. My dreams are distorted images that are gone in a flash...unless they're nightmares. Then they're reality.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
