While on the surface this seems to be a relatively blatant entreaty to stop reading Holy texts literally, there is more to it than that one simple concept. the last part of the poem entreats us to "read between/and behind the lines/and outside the cover" to begin to really understand. While symbolic, this is really trying to get the point across that God's lessons aren't constrained to the literal word, or even any book for that matter. Life is a schoolhouse, and hopefully the more people realise this, the more we really will "begin to see."

the Scriptures have many layers
they are not simply Known
the Bhagavad Gita
is known to have seven
the Holy Bible
many more than that
for God is not Human
nor Plant
Animal
or Mineral
is He
but Spirit
which we may never
nor really need to
Understand
and He is not constrained
by the Physical World
so see ALL

such a being
could not possibly
limit Himself
to literal lessons
for it would be the equivalent
of a single man
trying to hold back
the Mississippi
Amazon
or Ganges
it could not possibly be done

so next time you pick up your
Bible
Tanakh
Qur'an
or
Gita
do not constrain yourself
to the literal words
but read between
and behind the lines
and outside the cover
and you will begin to see
