"Catch a wave and you're sittin' on top of the world..."

The Beach Boys

Hang 10 With The Universe

Oh she's a fickle one
sly tease
I'll be riding high on top of a wave
crystal grace, glaced sheet of water
horizon in view
world my oyster, sun on my face

Then its choke, gasp, wipeout
and I'm recycled back under
caught in the vortex
can't see for the sting in my eyes
All I can do is let the undertow
take me
then spit me out back to shore

But wasn't it a brilliant ride?!
Glorious felicity, seredipity,
sweet harmony
while the wave was my friend
I know she will be again
Till then
I'll wax my board
and buy a new wet-suit

(c) Linda Gayton 2006

of the world! ;) Heck yeah great piece Lin!

Waves of the sea are like the waves of life all we can do is ride them and make the best of where we land. Odds are we'll have to wax quite a few boards and buy at least one new wetsuit. Excellent write
Pierre.

Love the heroic whimsy and philosophical swagger of HANG 10 WITH THE UNIVERSE. Also enjoyed what reads to me as an implied metaphor of the wave as a person or relationship that catches one "in the vortex." Quite a pleasure to read you again:-)
