My very best friend

My very best friend is sick

I feel so helpless, not knowing what to do

wishing I were God, in order that I

might part the oceans, in order to make her well again

My very best friend and I

are attached by a silver cord

so that when she is ill

so am I.

My very best friend suffers mutely

for she cannot tell me how she is hurting

but lies on the sofa, dazed

from the steroids prescribed by the vet

My very best friend must get well, for I cannot be without her

she is an angel sent from heaven

to help mortals stumble through life

 my beautiful Brooke.

I hope she gets well. I know how a best friend being sick feels. ;) Silver

PS: when you get a chance to visit Ireland. Do. The people are friendly, love Americans. The beauty and history of the land can not be described by the mere word. ;)

We so hope that Brooke will get well very soon! The poor thing, it is always so bad if you can't help them. Lots of luck on her health!

I would tend to agree with J and Karla below, Janet
I would get a second opinion too, I don't like the sound of steroids at all !
In the meantime, I will pray for Brooke's full recovery and restoration to health !

FRIENDS ARE ALCHEMISTS THAT MAKE GOLD FROM THE FOAM OF WAVES ON THE SHORE OF THEIR GRACE, AND MAKE DIAMOND FROM CONDENSED VAPORS OF THE RAINBOW OF LOVE.

Any form of friendship is a gift of living and a blessing of life.

Blessed are those that miss a friend, cry for a friend and sing for a friend.

Janet,

Brooke is a beautiful dog. It's terrible when our best friend is sick...I agree with JB, get a second opinion.

A very moving poem, very well penned.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Perhaps you could take her to a different vet for a second opinion. Aren't steroids what they forbid athletes to take?

So terribly sorry to hear this, Janet; and I know your helpless feeling all too well. When any of my pets are ill, I can feel their pain, and so many times in my life when I've been ill, they have been my guardian angels. Hoping and praying that your Brooke feels much better soon.
