Waiting in the Darkness

Stillness comes as the darkness falls

With softening, gentlest hands

Reach out to cradle; embrace

Safe, secure

It will all be alright

The child is calmed

Through the ages waiting

Yearning searching

On a shelf of subconscious

Under “lost”

Warm blue swirls

Rythmic ribbon spirals

Around and around in the dream

It will all be alright

It returned - recognition

And was grasped like the pinioned

Wings of Keats’ joy

I am sorry

Trapdoors fly to Pandora’s echoes

Tsunami releases

Destructive carnage in its wake

Leeching the life

From the lifeboat mirage

I am sorry

To forgive

Question out turned within

You have hands just like that

They are mine

Moth dances at the fire

Mesmerising whirling

Round the embers rising

Hope

The twinkle of the draig

And the rain beats steadily on the roof

Enjoyed this finely sensitive and engaging write. Reads like a slow motion explosion of consciousness booming through pillowed rushes of regret, memory, and determination reclaimed. A great piece of literature.
