Poetry by Dean Shaban

Behold, the words once dripped from melting tongues
And scorched your minds in a passionate blaze.
The verse once stormed from the thundering brain
And blew as the Zephyr from muse to mouth.
Alas, the lines once flooded the oceans
And washed in tides of romantic debris.
The couplets once tore through tremors of thought
And shook the ideas as trembling earth.

Yet mine heart be unmoved by what was once –
The beats, the Plato, the Galileo,
For such once was I – the quill of the Earth.
Gone may be night, but not days in this time,
Where letters are lovers in courtship’s way,
For, plainly, Plato has got writer’s block.
