Ok, ever since I read Jerry's Zejel poem I've been dying to do one myself, so I sat down and wrote one today. :) It went on kind of long, but I really enjoyed the process and the rhyming. Thanks for showing us so many different styles Jerry.

the drips they echo in this hole
overflowing their ceramic bowl
flooding the ground in a new role

your smile unseemingly wry
haloed by the darkened sky
sending out your words like lye
burning scars deep in my soul

you left me here to die with naught
grasping at every random thought
wishing now that I had fought
so that I may have ended hail and whole

growing weary in this endless night
knowing now you are but a blight
indulging in your own respite
lounging time away upon the knoll

brush away the salty tear
tamping down distended fear
hoping that my eyes might clear
that I may finish this tattered scroll

wonder now where it went astray
giving in to my own dismay
realizing that pain is your forte
confinement finally takes its hefty toll

THIS is great! You sure as heck put it all together and come up with one dynamite zejel. You kept the premise all the way through the poem, didn't wander over here, stop and stare over there, this was very good. Thanks for giving it a shot. Bet it won't be the last one that you do.
