“Cheer up Charlie...”
There are promises of better days.
The Candy Man is gone now,
His factory,
Shut away...

No more songs from green-haired men.
Except their lullabic mourn.

All of the leaves,
Hanging from the sugar tree.
Sways with the cocoa breeze
Coming from the chocolate sea.

All the rooms are locked up now...
Tucked away with their eccentricities.
We can’t find the key,
What does this all mean?

The pinwheels turn slowly,
In tune with the singing.
One for each little hand,
Planted in litany on the land

All in memory of the man,
Who made the everlasting candy...

Mariah,

Enchantment in your words this morning; reminds me of the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the book. Unique; creative; a little offbeat, but what a wonderful read! Enjoyed this one--well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Wonderful pen Mariah and the picture of the pin wheels does Willy proud.

Lamenting the death (or disappearance) of the Candy Man is tribute to his sweetness and sugary disposition, leaving in his wake all the goodies he has bestown upon the faithful, is butterscotch licorice in its tritute.

I loved the Gene Wilder version of Willie Wonka...and I love the Johnny Depp version even more...:)
Bring on those candy striped bars !
Excellent and enchanting pen...;)
