Rose of Life

Oh how I struggled; Yet found my way;
Stepping back into the moment; To that quiet,
almost haunting plain white room-

Again I took your hand in mine; I felt your
soft gentle skin, like a rose of friendship and
passionate whispers-

I wanted to feel life as you lived it; As large
as the universe you blessed-
You taught me how to find myself in the change
of every season-
How to drink from the spirit of humanity-
and feast on the banks of flowing rivers-

Each time you spoke; I heard the winds of youth,
gathering in the tear soaked corners of my eye-
Now I can only touch the foggy cold hard pane,
separating my world from yours-

Every step I take, seems only to push back from
the depths beneath me-
My breath falls to the humble ground before me;
leaving me lost without a trail, no longer to follow-
Oh how my fingertips weep for your touch-

Iím but a dense forest waiting for your breeze;
and the sunlight of your knowledge-
You gave me strength as a child, to carry on
through many fierce storms-
even when the hail pounded down with vengeance-
You encouraged me; You called my name over and
over again until I found the cellar and safety of your
loving heart-

Once in a while I just canít help but take that
step back in time-
Take your soft gentle hand and reflect on all the
blessings you showered me with,
and sip the dew from my rose of life

Thank You, Mom

As always Lisa the reader (me) can sense from the very first that this poem is coming directly from your heart to you mothers and we are only glimpsing the special bond that you both shared. I felt her presence as I read and looked at the picture and it made me think of my own mother who has been also gone for many years. Thank you for sharing your heart and your poetry with us, both are special.

This is a magnificent tribute that reaches deep into the heart of all who read it. The depth of the love you express and the sense of your great loss flow freely from each verse. There is no other person who touches us like our mother and when we lose her, the child within us is left out in the cold to fend for themselves, never again to know the intense support and tender soothing that only she could give us. Beautiful, Lisa!!
Take care,
Sherry
