A satirical poem of the not-too-real reality FOX series, Black/White where nothing was really very clear outside of corporate network ignorance.

Photo of Wurgels from Black.White

accept the dare to turn to black
while neighbors “woooo” and “waaaah”

and service network nature freaks
who pop-tart you as stars;

hang out and watch like lab rats
with your DNA pretense

paint on your "Blackface.Whiteface"
just don’t smear your common sense;

walk and rap like naturals
eat BBQ with locals--

listen/trash their spoken word
that diss the "black.white" yocals--

then return to bleak reality
that paid you to perform--

and learn this real life lesson:
self-respect is made, not born.

I am like Robert, I don't watch TV but I can tell from what you have said here this is not a program I would watch. Excellent capture of what the problem is.

I'm not familiar with this TV show, but you write well...truth in your last line.

Great message, Cynth'ya...there's so much fake and phony stuff on TV and in movies all across the board. I suppose it's 'entertainment'...

Didn't watch it, didn't want to ... there's no way one can walk in anothers shoes without starting at the beginning to 'experience' ALL of it!
Well written slap-on-the-back, Cynth'ya!

Your last line "self-respect is made, not born", should be handed out to everyone, along with their birth certificates...splendid writing Cynth'ya!

Pretty damn sad when we can't accept ourselves for whom we are...a strong, powerful message in thought provoking verse. I have not seen the series, don't plan on watching. Foolishness, if you ask me.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
