My attempt at memoir in prose.

Never felt so electric in my spirit,
yet I do not fear the feel

It is like I'm being prepared in advance
for the shock of the inevitable
so that I won't bring brought to a point
where I cannot cope at all;

so, why can't I stop my nose from running
why can't I stop this sensation of a thing
so very vital that I at the same time
I crave so instinctively not to feel?

I guess there is a purpose. . .
I guess we are supposed to feel.

Perhaps the rebirthing of one's spirit
that is as close to me as my own sense of touch
leaves me numb all too often
as the body of a lov'd one falls
they feel bliss. . . we feel. . . oh well

I guess there is a purpose. . .
I guess we are supposed to feel.

But not for reasons of causing pain,
because IF not for pain
we could not love the experience
of being released from pain at all.

I guess there is a purpose. . .
I guess we are supposed to feel;

this pain. . . has a purpose;
this pain . . .has a story all its own.
if we are honest with ourselves
we need to hear it scream out loud;

You see, even a fool would finally
come to grips with the fact that
numbing out our pain does

for our growth, and. . .
if we expect to grow
we MUST endure the birth pains
of the Spirit of Earthly Separation;
if we expect to grow
we MUST respect the inner groanings
from the visceral rumblings
of the Angel of Perfect Peace.

for fools, if numbness equates peace,
then the darkness equates light.
yet they shall never Travel through THE Light;
which is the only power within our reach
that relieves the most insidious pain
. . . choose to celebrate that ethereal release,
or die out feeling nothing at all.

Author's Note: Yes, there is a purpose,
God makes no mistakes. He wants us to feel as One.
