Trapped in a Dream of Yesterday

Lady I am truly sorry if I hurt you

If I tell you why maybe you will understand

The only way that I could ever love you

Was if I could just forget holding her hand

If I could forget the way she touched me

The way she smiled right into my heart

The little things she did, things that she never hid

Then lady maybe we could make another start

If I could forget her morning kisses,

Maybe even ignore my nighttime wishes

If the moon came up to stay if sun would go away

Then lady maybe in my heart Id want to stay

So thank you for your kindness and your offer

Thank you for seeing things my way

I wish that I could  have been the man you look for

Not someone trapped in a dream from yesterday.

Such raw, up-front honesty and the desire to do no-one no wrong touches me to the core, Felix. Such compassion and kindness in the "hardness" here... this is what is meant by being "cruel to be kind", I think. In all things, Sir, you are the Knight on whom the Lady bestows her token because in all things you can be trusted. You have my admiration for your integrity and your purity of heart, which shines through everything you write. This is a mirror into your soul, Pops, and such beauty that is found there comes as no surprise. That is why you are so well-loved as a friend and a poet. Bless you always, Kate xx

Dear Felix,

Dreams give wings to the soul and, as such, can never be viewed as a trap. You have the power to be the man you want to be. You already hold the key to release yourself.
