story of a cowboys best friend

I rode that horse he was like the wind
he was always there like my best friend
by your side on the stormiest day
from sun up till once again the stars made their way.
Today I put my partner at rest
others will follow, but you were the best
you will ride on through the skies
someday I will be there with you
we’ll saddle up and travel in that sky so blue.
You were a trouper spotted ear
and I must say in saying good-bye
I will shed some tears
but I must say here in the end
you were not just a horse
but my life long friend.
