The Ol’ Man was a drinkin’ man
Who liked to go full throttle
‘Cause then he chugged Ol’ Grand Dad
Straight out of the bottle
He liked those little Oly’s too
You’d hear him pop a top
Ol’ Ma despised his drinkin’
But ne’er could make him stop

He slip into the porch at night
And pop open a beer
I guess he thought we were too dumb
To know what he was doin’ there
He’d suck down seven ounces
In just a gulp or three
And then another top would pop
Ol’ Ma would lecture me

Don’t ever do what Daddy does
That filthy drunken lout
The dogs will come and piss on you
If you are on the lawn passed out
Don’t ever do what Daddy does
Don’t push hard cash across the bar
Then drive the wrong side of the street
And then sideswipe the sheriff’s car
Don’t ever do what Daddy did
He pissed his life away
He’d head into the tavern
And piss away his pay
Don’t ever do what Daddy does
The price paid is too high
The dt’s are much, much too rough
Bite off your tongue and die

The Ol’ Man was a drinkin man
Sometimes he swilled cheap wine
He liked it from the bottle too
It should have been a sign
Now I too am a drinkin’ man
Who likes to go full throttle
And I will suck my friend Jim Beam
Straight out of the bottle

I remember the day,
though its been 10 or so years since last I drank,
but every now and again I get the urge,
but better for me to take a toke,
no hangover then, or so I mostly hope...;) Ed
