not really sure about this one...been thinkin' about it for a couple of days~

i step lightly into a
shoe box of poems~
one from 89 rhymes
another, dated 81,
no longer does~
a decision with age
to wander free and
return my words
"dusted green"~

a speck below ridgeline
is where i start my day~
a climb slower
than the sun's
to catch a breath~
Wyoming lives to the west
dusted green, dappled
silver grey sage~

a soft blend to the land
sand stone rims,
badland buttes,
the Big Horns distant
cloud capped grey~
i'm nested, rimrock
and puddle of sun~

slowly i ease into
the dry sea of sleep~
as Desert carries me
into her dreams,
i return~
we speak in poetic prayer
wonder eachother's
moods of sand,
lives of stars,
deaths of suns,
birth of this love~~

~~mlh~~

What a wonderful sense of rhythm you have, Martin! You are a poetic discovery I'm gladdened to have made. Your work rocks one into another place of memory, of realization, of a deeper sense of the moment at hand.

A softer and greener "you", Martin. Time gives perspective which sharpens our fuzzy edges. Your poems are more concentrated and devoid of non-essentials now. Still, this is very beautiful. Most of my old poems re-read make me grimace in horror, lol. You have a painter's eye. Are you an artist?

From seeing this piece of your heart Bro. Martin, I'd venture to say that there are beautiful vistas in Wyoming that only a kid born next to a cactus can appreciate. Thanks for sharing this view of your life with us here.

An enchanted write. Your words transport the reader into a dreamtime of desert possibilities and poetic certainties. Makes one feel much like an extension of this DUSTED GREEN reality.

Wonderful depiction of the beauty in your state that makes one long to see it but probably never will. If a painter can paint a beautiful picture you have done so with your words and the canvas on which it's painted, is each readers mind.

Sometimes the 'old poems' are the best ones. I love going back through my 'sappy' teen poetry that I took so seriously all those years ago...

You should be absolutely sure about this one! Very descriptive with a touch of melancholy here and there. Liked this a lot. Have missed reading your work ... and the mention of the pale ... or as you said "silver grey sage ... really made me miss Wyoming. Well done.

I know how green feels I've touched it with my toes
The snow is white and frosted...I've felt it with my nose

I love the painting you created on this vast canvas of nature. She gave you inspiration and her faith was rewarded when you penned your beautiful poem.

I know the spirit of your Muse. We have similar eyes.

I look forward to the next...and the next
