really just some thoughts & observations. not so much a finished poem. Dawn

She wondered
as she looked at the littered landscape of her life
if her fault had been in believing
she could rise above,
that when push came to shove
she could find love.

            There were those
who told her to look and to see where she slipped
and not where she fell.

            There were those
who said there was no explanation for the mystery
of life, who could really tell.

Her body bruised,
her mind confused, her heart heavy with loss,
something in her refused to let go
and drift as she might
to the comfort of eternal night
to what seemed her plight.

            She was one
who would walk on, walk on to the end
of the broken-rainbow road.

            She was one
who would get up again until she could
lay down her heavy load.

She stopped now
and let herself cry tears over all she had hoped
to find on her way, and then she rose
to meet roads yet to travel,
let all expectations unravel
with each step on the gravel.

            Spirit called
and gave her the strength she would need
for the journey ahead.

            Spirit called
with assurance of presence and promise
she would be led.

I find this quite compelling indeed, Dawn. I also think that nothing is ever "finished" so your creative offering is just fine. Thank you for sharing it. Love and peace to you,

Not finished, perhaps, but definitely poetry... as wandering thoughts that are caught together and held by a puzzling mind often are. Such a poem can never be "finished" really, can it? Not while there is more of the journey to be had at least! :)) You take me along on your travels with you, Dawn, and for that I am grateful. Oft times we DO set out with nothing more clear to us than the assurance of presence and promise... and what more, often do we need? I'm useless at reading maps anyway... and even worse at sticking to them!! :)) Great to see you posting again. Bless you and keep putting one foot in front of the other... sometimes that is all we are called to do... LOL Kate xx
