We walked the river path,
A day we since are long to have,
The turtles, bathing in the sun
Who, all, their course had lazily run
Snap gladly at our toss of crumb
Spoiled long, it seems, but when it’s done
Our dining sweet and new.
The warmth of air and fun,
The trees tall arched, the tingling sun,
While passers by can only see
The like of them enjoying we,
As hand in hand, the newly wedded woo,
Their flame and water, wind and gravel
Newly made and laid for two.
