I cannot see the stars for the clouds...

Too Many Valleys

 The race too long,

The mountains too high,

Too many valleys

To even see the sky.

Days without end

And ending of days

Can’t walk another mile,

Yet still I do, somehow.

Shadows chase

Efforts in vain

Climb yet another mountain

Only to see the valley again.

Too many times to walk this way

Too many obstacles

Too much, oh too much to pay.

So soon to end,

But when?

Tired, worn,

fulfillment withheld

In valleys ripe of thorns.

Someday…but when?

Sadness gripping

In the valley again.

Still though I know,

Still though I see,

One foot in front of another

One step at a time

To someday forthwith standing free.

Everybody has their down days. I have found that every valley, every mountain is another wonderful challenge which I thank God for.

There's lotsa roses in the valley, stop and smell a few, for joy is not based on proximity of the body, but the heart. Art
