For those who have served, are serving, or will serve, THANK YOU.
|
"Thank You" ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Some of the sky falls in tears as God above remembers those that Man has forgotten. He reads the tombstones; the names blur as His eyes overflow - far too many paid the price. And yet, Man forgets the high cost of freedom that allows him to buy another drink. A long weekend off, brought to you by the blood of soldiers that died for you and for me. Go on! Celebrate! You have that right: as for me, I will choose to thank our Veterans. For you sacrifice, Thank you. For the freedoms I enjoy and for serving, Thank You. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ (c) 2005, Karla Dorman.

To those who paid the ultimate price that I may know and live in freedom, I am humbled and ever grateful. Memorial Day is a day that is set aside so that we can pay homage to them all and to the sacrifices made by their families in their absence. Freedom is many things, it is grilling out, it is the Indy 500 and it is baseball in the park, but let us not forget those who gave their all that we might be able to live as we do. God bless our Soldiers, for without them, we would probably be speaking some other language and not living anywhere near as well as we do. Their blood paid for us to live the American Dream, let us not forget that FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE!! Thank you, Karla for this wonderful post.
Take care,
Sherry |

Karla, I've been trying to review this poem all morning but the site times out. I just now am able to get to this awesome pledge to Memorial Day to our troops who gave so fearlessly and even to their lives. There are no real words to scope the true depth of thanks but your verse comes very close. Thank you for your devotion for who we are and why we live free in America!
Love and Peace,
Susan |

Karla,
Oh how important it is for us to remember, and to teach our children and grandchildren the true meaning of this day. How there could be one American, that fails to honor the memory of those that gave such selfless sacrifice..well let's just say..I'm glad I'm not that one.
Touching, honest and truly beautiful tribute.
God Bless,
Lisa |
