This River
of salt n pepper hues
ripples downstream
from it's source
of noble proud lineage

All rivers lead to an ocean
bypassing embankments
of sturdy solid mass
breadth of strength
inspiring the imagination

Ray's of light
penetrate and connect
with shoals unseen
arching forth prisms

It's aqualine intriguing angle
 laps over hidden canyons
neath the surface
obscuring the depths
of inner guarded secrets

Leaving gentle clues
as it runs past mounds
tward passionate yet
tight lipped breath
amid afternoon shadows

Upward over the bar
sprays cafe latte foam
swirls like cinnamon rolls
onward to oceans of destination
retaining the mystery

Such is the nature of the River..
This River!!

Excellent use of natures symbolism juxtaposing the sentient frailties of our humanness.

I really enjoyed this construct! Very creative!

Delightfully unique, Ch'erie, and you manage very adroitly to weave in the magic that this water has for you into your words. It is a scintillating write which sparkles with life, mystery and expectation. Very light, very lively. As Susan says, this lives! Thank you for the oxygenating I need this afternoon! :)) LOL Kate xx

Breath taking write that carried me floating along as if on a cloudy raft through each verse to it's final conclusion. You weave reality and fantasy in this one into a wonderful poetic experience Cherry Pie, well done.
