Loneliness

In your mind you often wonder
Why you feel the way you do
You know your loved
But you can't help the sinking feeling
Of loneliness

The type of loneliness that drags you down
Deeper into the darkness of yourself
To uncharted territory
Of nothingness

But still you push on
Not sure why really
Then you remember
"I'm loved"

Something deep inside you eats at you
"No, they don't"
This blackness tells you they lie
And you believe it
You build this wall of protection
Hoping to keep out every person that loves you

You end up hurting them
The voice inside you laughs
Now, its true
Now they really hate you
Now they pretend to like you

In the end
You find yourself in a corner
Away from everyone
You curl up in a ball and cry silent tears of regret
You realize
You have no one

The voice tells you to go make up with them
You try to stop yourself
But you find yourself on your feet, talking to them
They let you back in

Like a bad horror movie
It starts all over again
The pain, loneliness comes back
You try to ignore it
Its to strong, you give in

The very thing that happened the first time
Happens all over again
And again
And again
Until....

People come to a place
Dressed in black and crying
They walk up to say their good byes
No one knew why you did it
There was no note
Now, they live with the pain and loneliness
Not because the darkness inside them
But because of you

This is very powerful and sad-you showed the desperation of a suicidal person well, and the effects on those around them, when you feel as though there are no words to make things change in their mind, thanks for this, we need thought-provoking.

Suicide is always such a tragedy and it is especially hard on those left behind. A poem filled with sad reflection.

I agree with Peter . . . very despairing indeed!

I don't feel adequate to review this piece. Perhaps anything that is said might nullify itself.

I will say however that searching for that which makes us whole has been the struggle of mankind from the beginning.

Your offering certainly reflects the spiritual war that all human beings endure during the extent of their turbulent lifetimes, and also the jaded wisdom we all tend to embrace at times, from those who purport to understand, to comfort ourselves.

If misery loves company, as the saying goes, then at times I am my own best friend!

A very sad and despairing poem...
We should always trust our gut instincts in life, and reject the dark with the beauty of light...
Life is an extremely precious gift which must be cherished and realized fully, if we are to be all.... that we can be...
Thanks for sharing
Love and Peace
