For the wee folks out there...

Tomorrow’s Promise

sweet sue holds the world in her little hand

jumpy john thinks of the way he can play in the sand

willy wu loves them both as a child of the land

a butterfly a turtle, the bees and the trees

childhood is for the young with patches on knees

sweet sue may be a doctor to save people from harm

jumpy john may drive a tractor grow food on a farm

willy wu could be president bring peace with his charm

a butterfly, a turtle the trees and the bees

childhood is for the young with patches on knees

sweet sue needs a daddy to replace one long gone

jumpy john needs a big  brother to teach right from wrong

willy wu needs a teacher who’s patient and strong

a butterfly, a turtle, the trees and the bees

childhood is for the young with patches on knees

for all the little children smile in the day

if they cry in the night be there with them I pray

give them your love and see what they say

a butterfly, a turtle, the trees and the bees

childhood is for the young with patches on knees

This is a very cute poem, and I think it would make an excellent children's book.

This is beautiful, Felix. Children are the promise of the future and it is up to us to nurture them and encourage them to become all that they can be. From us they draw their strength and one word, be it positive or negative, can change the entire course of their lives. Wonderful poem!
Take care,
Sherry

This is a lovely sentiment and so true- I could see it as a song, too.

Oh this one is charming with a STORY BOOK lilt to it. It would also go gangbusters as a song for children. Go for it Fee! Make a song for the children and with your huge heart as the baritone you'll set the pace for the future Johnny's and Sues'.
