The Harm family is going on vacation! To my roots! New Jersey! It's been 20 years since I've been "home." We'll spend two weeks on the East Coast. We'll hit New York City (Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Times Square, etc) and the Jersey shore. Then head south to DC. One thing I seen as a child was the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns - we'll see it again. Betty has never been back east and the amount of time since I've been there - it will be a major sight-seeing tour. If all goes well, we'll be through 13 states in 14 days! A lot of traveling, but I'm ready to go exploring! Hopefully, I'll be blogging the events of our trip...

my birthplace - never fitted in
mentally always alone
twenty years I haven’t walk
on that ground
but I head back…
spiritually sound

no longer needing approval
no longer seeking forgiveness
I’ve come to far to be shamed
into the roles of my past
I’m not entitled to live
with my mistakes
they were choices I made
and learned from

jersey bound
my roots and family
but this vacation won’t be judged
on the acceptance I receive
I’ve been building a bridge
for over 20 years,
yet on the other side
nothing happens

the past has been acknowledged
the past has been relived
the past… is now… past
through work and acceptance
it’s been buried…
with no bitterness
the future will hold regrets
but no shame…
no shame…
