A Father's Day Fantasy

Dedicated to, and inspired by, Jerry Bolton

Sweetie, put your feet up and I'll give you a massage,
I just waxed the car for you and cleaned out the garage,
I mowed the lawn and washed the dog and made your favorite dish,
I grabbed a flick at Blockbusters, we'll watch it when you wish.

I trimmed the hedge myself, hon, that's a job I know you hate,
I told my mom her visit here will simply have to wait,
I'll shine your shoes, take out the trash, repair the kitchen sink,
and while you're getting comfy I'll pour you a frosty drink.

The baseball game's about to start, I'll bring you some hors d'oeuvres,
I've sent the kids to grandma's so they won't get on your nerves,
there's hot wings in the oven and your pals are on their way,
I hope this meets your fantasy, dear ~ Happy Father's Day!

--Connie ;-)

"Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies.
She looketh well
to the ways
of her household,
and eateth not
the bread
of idleness."
(Proverbs 31:10, 27 KJV)

Well! It's about damn time!!! Jeez, what a guy has to go though to get a little darn respect. Still, by the comments below it seems we still don't get respect, even from the guys. One day out of the year . . . Just one day. Maybe Felix . . . Well, never mind, thank you for the dedication.

Some men are grown children when it comes to games. Yeah, this will do if Jerry likes baseball. I like how you had written this poem.

As for my own hubby, he wants good dinner and good sex.

Your poem and Proverbs are true gems.

Toooooooo funny and I am sure Jerry will truly understand the irony of it. You captured what once may have been but will never be again as women of the world took equality to the forfront and earned the respect they were denied for so long. Well done Connie, even as a guy I love it.
