Lately I seem to be writing poetry in rhyme. It's a phase I'm going through. I guess a need for structure in a life that is rather chaotic at the moment.

Darkness only takes over
in the absence of the light
And evil manifests
when people start to fight
Fear is a weapon
that takes captive the mind
but if we walk in love
then peace is what we'll find.
The power is in our tongues
and in what we choose to say
Every careless word
may exact its pay

Those times I've been impulsive
and spoken out of turn
have always caused regret
and in this I've had to learn.
Just as a tiny stone
causes ripples that then spread
So has the impact
of all those careless things I've said.
Though my intent was always good
and I never meant to cause folk harm
Once I'd caused a stir
it was hard to restore the calm

We can't undo the past
and what is done is done
but if we learn our lessons
then a victory is won
The past is left behind
as we face the rising morn
with the wisdom we acquire
in a sense we are reborn

This is a very sobering revelation.

I believe that when wisdom like this wells up inside the spirit and mind, everything around that person will change for the better.

A beautiful testament to how easy life and circumstance can become skewed and how very important communicating and respecting one another really is.

A deeply poignant and heartfelt write and one which I can personally relate too!

a whole lot to think about. These words are so very true, and the world should heed them. Thank you for sharing, Chanti. This is another write from your very deep heart.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Great inspirational write. Its good that we haven't run out of things we can learn from, or we'd all die of boredom. :)

Oh I really like this Chanti! I especially love the last stanza:
"We can't undo the past
and what is done is done
but if we learn our lessons
then a victory is won
The past is left behind
as we face the rising morn
with the wisdom we acquire
in a sense we are reborn"

A valuable life lesson, indeed!

Hello ~Chanti ~ this was a blessing to read. Beautiful cant and rhyme. The LORD gave us the power of LIFE - AND DEATH! - in our tongues! Everything must be SPOKEN FIRST - before it can be MANIFESTED. GOD IS SPIRIT - SPIRIT HAS ALWAYS PRECEDED PHYSICAL...CHRIST, WHILE STILL SPIRIT, SPOKE ALL CREATION INTO BEING...AND THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT, SPOKE [PROPHESIED] THROUGH THE AUTHORS OF THE WRITTEN WORD, THAT HE, TOO, WOULD BE MADE MANIFEST IN THE FLESH [PHYSICAL]. Extremely well done. God bless you, Chanti ~ somehow, dear, it's hard to imagine you having an unkind word towards anyone! love & prayers ~ rhonda

Beautiful and gracious wisdom here, Chanti... no wonder I never grow up as I seem to find myself needing to be reborn day after day! Coupled with an energy, enthusiasm and zest for life that has suddenly come upon me with a "vengeance", I fear I need a terrible reining in somewhere at the moment, fearful that I am stamping my tiny size 3's over all and sundry in the form of ill-timed humour. I shall use this soothing write as my mantra tonight! :)) Especially welcomed by those who find it nigh impossible to zipper up... The Hope of Salvation for the Verbally Incontinent. Bless you and thank you. LOL Kate xx

Amen! We can't do a thing to change the past, except learn from it to avoid repeating the mistakes we've made. Great piece Chanti! Your friend, Michelle

I think you described a world of many in this verse. We live forward and see in reverse or maybe understand would be a better word. But as long as we are learning that our actions cause effects that are far reaching and critical to the lives of others then we at least know that we are "growing" in the right direction. UP :) Great verse. I love to see people who are unafraid to evaluate theirselves. It shows maturity and provides inspiration for others to do the same and to get off the hamster wheel of condemning others. :)

...and a wonderful rhyming agent you are, your words and this poem are perfect in meter and tone and capture so well your subject that I don't think you could do any better. Nice to see you on board again Chanti the beautiful.

Rhyme become you and your words, Chanti, rhyme on! "If we walk in love," is a wonderful statement. Still, even walking in love may not be enough, there is anothere phrase which goes, "There is a thin line between love and hate." Humans are imperfect. We walk with greed. We walk with jealousy. We walk with hate. We walk the ewalk and talk the talk with many diverse traits, the more neegative ones, unfortunately, come into play more often than not. Still, like someone said recently, Eileen maybe, one person can make a difference if only they walk the true path of righteousness (rephrasing her thought here). Continue you quest for the walk for, and with, love.

Since I love rhyme, Chanti, you will never hear me complain. We all make mistakes in life and sometimes we all dig our heels in and refuse to budge from our position. These are human traits and as long as we don't do them with ill-intent, I think most understand that it was just a step in our growth process.
Take care,
