And when you’ve flown
Free of this place
And me;
Your absence
Soft as down
Echoing unabsorbed
To fall and settle
On my
House of Oblivion,
When
Only your scent lingers—
Leather and jasmine
Mingle in quiet circles
Transforming
Ordinary objects into relics
For my
Ceremony of Remembrance.

Then it is
That I’ll lavish in the ritual,
Cupping to my ear
The sound of your
Whisper-fall—
Language undecipherable
As a thousand raining
Petals.

And then it is
My dear; that finally
I devour
You—
Jump the wall
So poignantly camouflaged and
Span
The “ alabaster space”

Intoxicated
With drumbeats
Captured in wild precision,
No longer to avert a gaze
Sidelong,
Or the confrontation of touch—
To pull open
Wide
Dimensions unraveled,
In memory, give way to
Fascination.
Perhaps, even to find peace
In the blankness
Of your eyes,
The echo of the closing door
(Or even not to care—
Only remember.)

While you spiral above
Mechanical,
In
Silence frozen blue,
Then it is
That memory will call me
To my
House of Oblivion
A cup held with both hands
An ache
Slow and sweet.
