The state of North Carolina is very inspirational to me. Especially where
I live, I find so much nature and wildlife. I love to tell my story to you and you and you!

It's Summertime in North Caroline:

When the days are long and humid

Sipping homemade lemonade is common

Relaxing on Grandma's white rocker

The porch becomes alive with sweetness

Colorful flowers pose in large clay pots

My frisky cat chases a tiny Hummingbird

A Catbird chases my cat up a pine tree

Butterflies, Bumble-Bees are busy bodies

It's Summertime in North Caroline:

The Bob-White yells out his name all day

Blue Jays and Red Cardinals play tag

The dusty rose sun sets into the river

Doves coo from one end of the forest

Soon after the Whippoorwill calls out

As I sit listening gazing at a full moon

The embers of my heart twinkle so bright

In a sea of darkness so far away from me

It's Summertime in North Caroline:

Fireflies dance in my flower garden

Cicadas, Crickets and Rainfrogs sing

Snowy Egrets sleep in the marshland

Deer come to drink water from the canal

Where Lilypads and Cattails grow wild

Red Foxes and Flying Squirrels scamper

Hydrangeas of blue and pink are vintage

I take it all in from my front porch

It's Summertime in North Caroline...

I thank each and every one of you for taking the time out of your day to read and comment on my poem entitled, "It's Summertime In North Caroline" I appreciate your generousity and friendship.

I'll be frank with everyone. I am a transplant. I used to be a native Angelina (L.A. Woman) and found myself nestled in the middle of a forest embanked by the Intra-Coastal Waterway, hence, toning my persona to a very passive lady of love for nature and wildlife and of course, the ICW and the Atlantic Ocean.

Also, THANK YOU for the 'WARM WELCOME' you've given me.
Why, I declare, y'all are sweeter than the sugar from a honeysuckle vine! *wink*

Hugs and Smiles,
~MoNi~

Welcome to the Den! This is a wonderful heartwarming poem. Since we are in Noth Carolina at the time, it is even more compelling. You truely have a little corner of paradise there and you have painted a beautiful picture of it!
