Not storm! These rounded
vowels of heavy
thunder e c h o i n g
through the darkness on
clouds of smoke; not guns!
These mortared thuds of
sonance l i n g e r i n g
in vibrating souls
and shaking the ground
underfoot. Nay, it's
the announcement of
night flowers b l o o m i n g
overhead on stalks
of light imprinted
on our eyes: the joy
of watching July's
fireworks e x p l o d e -
the wonderful songs,
ones we see and feel.
