To a father past on.

I can still see your face in another time, and a different place.
Still remember the times and stories that you shared.
Not always good but you did the best you could
and I always knew you were there.
You brought me up and you tore me down
Your words were my very first sound,
and I can't forget halloed grounds.
There were times that got tough
and you said to suck it up,you'll get through it in the end.
Now i'm looking at faded pictures wonder if you are near.
Some things you always hated and then some you'd toast with a beer.
You brought me up and you tore me down
Your words were my very first sound, and I can't forget halloed grounds
Walking down a path we well traveled before.
Casting out my line as I stand upon this shore.
Remembering the pride, within your tired eyes.
As your lessons I reeled in beneath the morning sky.
You brought me up and you tore me down
Your words were my very first sound, and I can't forget halloed grounds

Thanks to everyone for your comments,it means so much to me.
To be honest I wrote this lyric for my song writing partner John.
His father had past away some time ago but still talks of him often.
My father past away many years ago but he was like a best friend too.
So I guess it was for both of us.Thanks Again

Thank you, Chris, for sharing your heart & soul in these lyrics. An honest and understanding appraisal of the man who gave you everything you are. He was THERE. For so many "he" is a question mark. WELCOME to the family. You ROCK!
