Stormy Souls

Stormy Souls

It came upon your mind in a flash
lightning and thunder
in a darkened sky
Love was devastated

The wind howled in your face

You realize your wounds
They show your true colors
The sky is dark blue-grey
Sorrow is shrouded by lies
your soul is bruised
The rain is coming
it will wash your heart
to cleanse and beat true

The blood red sunset
has been bleeding
Your heart is crying
Love is wounded

Twilight is purple hued
It mixed the sorrow and danger
into a darkening night sky
Light is looking into the cosmos
You see angels flying brightly
They feel no pain
and can’t understand yours
Tears fall upon the earth

The rain reflects your love
The moon will shadow you
As human tears bleed
The puddles reflect your true feelings

Or perhaps it’s just an illusion
of the night, awaiting the purity of truth
Only the dawn shall tell
The dew hides the pain from the day

Sunlight is healing but never lasts

A devastated storm
will form again as the clouds build
The thunder speaks, the lightning flashes
The day is darkened without night fall

Love is wounded

Very tactile, very expressive of something it is hard to quantify and pin down - yet you have envisioned the wounding of love and tearing of souls excellently here, Dale. Wonderful, visceral descriptions which capture this long, dark night oh so well. This has the scent of a crushed rose carried on the still air after a storm... quite beautiful for something so dark! :))

And YEY!!! Just have to tell you I'm SOOOOOOOO excited... got tickets for a Farewell concert of the Eagles on Sunday night!! Since I've been reading you and other Southerners, I have really gotten so much more into the ethos of Americana. But I have always loved the music... especially Allman Brothers... sorry, I digress, but just is soooo high on anticipation! What a saddo I am... :)) A happy one, though!! xx K

Oh a little too close to home. I'm a moody one myself(moi?lol). Seems to be an avocational liability. As usual, incredible imagery and mood expressed through nature. But more. Something closer to the soul of the writer, I think. The emotions are more accessible. There's a lonliness and longing for lasting warmth, peace and clarity. Well, can I get a witness to those of us who've felt this way? I believe this is one of your best, Dale. Stunning!
