Your strong arm held me...your hand ran down my spine;
a moment that whispered the first goodbye
that would eternally be mine,
as I waited for them to explain to me why
they could not stop time for just one more moment.
I looked deep into your soulful eyes
and I understood that this day was spent;
for though we had space, I was wise
to our long-lasting inner contentment.

You nourish me with so much more than you
and I savour your strength.  As I watched you turn
and head towards the departure gate, you filled me through
with your feelings and all I have learned.
I saw you look back with tears in your eyes
as I waved bravely, urging you to go.
I hated myself.  Sometimes the power of this love I despise
as I truly believe and fear how it grows.

Finally calmness returns by chance
as you reassure me that all is fine.
Stroking the photo, I smile and glance
at the clock, knowing you're safe and mine.
The crisp linen warms with my glow
as I settle on my bed of content.
Endymion encourages sleep as the emotions grow
...pacified, you are with me though distant.

Panda...I thought I had left a comment on this, but I find as I come back to reread that I didn't. Perhaps I was lost in the dream and my attachment to the ssentiment in your words as I hold them close to my heart..."stroking photographs" as well and finding strength in trust despite the distance.
Love,
Taylor

This is touchingly beautiful and tender, with an underlying classical feel to it...
Even when love is seperated by time and distance and circumstances, it is never impeached or tarnished, in the full knowledge, that whatever will be...will be..
The picture is gorgeous too

This construct has several levels. I'm assuming that your husband is in the military and left for another land or port?

I know what you mean about the power of love, especially when it feels like you have no control over it.

Good write dear Panda!
