CALLING IN

I call out
God!
in the night,
seek comfort elsewhere,
pin hopes on ancestral yearnings:
come up empty.

Despair calls out
Help me!
hurls energy upward
where aid is vaguely felt to be:
nobody home.

I call out in anguish
Why me?
curse the hand that feeds,
arms that cherish and protect:
my God! (is dead)

I call out
Save meIm melting!
feel the crumble of dissolving myth,
fractured fairy tale:
the wizard snores.

I cease calling,
spent, heart-sick.
Shrouded in silence, I give up.
Defenses breached, I surrender,
and God is there.

Spirited Light
pierces darkness,
calms troubled water,
frees captive heart..
I wake up.

Think again,
See,
open wide the gate of divinity,
to where God is
breathing me.

Now I call in for God
if storms and monsters
rage and roar.
I live love, give love, am love.
God is all I see.
