(An interpretation of the message of
Mel Gibson’s film, The Passion Of The Christ. “Satis”, spoken to the soldiers scourging Jesus,
means roughly, “ enough.”)
My soul cries, enough!
Quite enough of scourging crucifying fear.
If this cup cannot pass away,
Enough of enemies: Jew, gentile,
Roman, barbarian, faithful, infidel.
Children: love one another.
Soldier, enough of war,
death and weeping widows!
Sweet mother, nurture.
Mary, love. Wise Claudia, counsel.
Veronica, dry our tears.
It is past time, my gods!
Yahweh, Allah, Isis, Great Spirit,
Unite: not gods, but god-ness.
Choose no contest,
God in all.
It is accomplished!
when we discard the dregs
serve the good wine, see one vine,
fill the half full cup,
drink to Who-We-Are.
Our spirit cries, enough!
God of love and forgiveness,
flow through us into the world.
Gladly we let go of cross and shroud
and we rise.
