A Consolation

I wrote this many years ago but it still holds true today. It doesn't matter how long we had lost a loved one, it feels as if it were yesterday.

A Consolation

Why do I always think about those that I’ve loved in the past?
I can’t reach them
They’re dead and gone
Noooo, that’s wrong…
I can hear them

Remembering all those fun times…
Understanding now how they felt
Ruling by the belt
Oh but how I do miss them
Why couldn’t I understand them then?

So vivid are my colored set memories
I can almost hear their voices
They left without any choices
I want to touch their wrinkled parched skin
God…why did you take them away?

Feeling their power engulf my memory banks
They make known their presence
Unaware by their senses
I crave for them…
Smelling familiar scents around me

The times so long ago
Spinning emotions in my head
I can’t fathom they are dead
They’ve really never left…
Life’s merely an on going panoramic movie

How true. It always seems we long to say words after they are gone and never found the time when they were here. A sadness all it's own. Thank you for your great comments on my poetry. And welcome to the DEN!
