I'm having some hand problems so I'm shortening my comments;-)

As the jazz pianist caresses
the piano keys
playing all my favorites
my thoughts are brought
to their knees
in rapturous submission

My heart races to keep apace
with all of his transitions till
the music and I become one
as he plays us with exultation

Fingering each precious movement
with such precision and grace
up and down the keyboard
I can't bear much more
he has intricately filled
all my spaces

Then with glissando
he brings us to cresendo
I'm forever melded to the melody
with no desire to ever be set free

You describe this perfectly! When a pianist loves what he's playing it makes it sheer joy for the lucky listener.
The same goes for your writing. You rock. Big time.

Dear Eileen,

As one who has a passion for music and, especially, the piano, I find myself lost in your words as if carried away by the notes. Gorgeous writing, my friend.

Nothing quite like listening to music you adore played by someone who knows what they are doing, and you brought that fact out in this grande finale of musical poetry.

You can't beat the piano for setting the mood and tone..

this is stunning, Eileen. you described to a tee the feeling of being one with the music. it almost hurts when the music ends, as if part of you is being severed.
