Though you never chose to really
try to know me
The colors of our happiness
will forever stain my heart
and all that I can see.

the remnants of our joy
shared in the warmth
of good days gone by
have touched my soul and I will forever feel.

sheltered, yet feathered,
and left alone
to fly south for winter.

forced to leave
a season too rough
to hold us here together
a season containing

only pieces of longing,
long tired of wanting,
those pieces of each other
we chose not to share.

"sheltered, yet feathered,

and left alone

to fly south for winter"

You were touched and you will feel that feathered light caress for eternity. Such are your words with each drop of ink a tear of unfulfilled love. It is a sinking of the heart at the thought for me too. We will never know but we are better off declining the possibility of more pain and rejection by freeing ourselves of the chains and just.... stepping away. There is love all over this world. We mustn't think we lost when we ceded... to begin another place in time with a more solid foundation.

Love and Peace.

You touched me with the longing - if only - in this poem. Well metered, well written, succinct imagery from the heart...
thank you for this offering.
