This is a repost of a poem I wrote some time ago, as you can see from the date on it. At the time of writting it was sadly very real.
Now however thank to God and my new wife Sally, and a very, very good friend, many, many miles away, it is no longer true or real, but just a poem.
I hope you like it.
Steve.

Let me bid you welcome,

As you wander through my mind,

I think that you will be surprised,

At the things you’re going to find,

You’ll find a cupboard full of love,

And hugs, I’ve kept for you,

I know that you don’t want them,

But they’re here for when you do,

Across there in the corner,

Is the love you said was mine,

So let me bid you welcome,

As you wander through my mind,

There’s a fountain full of memories,

That never ends it seems,

A stream of tears that flows down to,

A lake of wasted dreams,

If you wondered about the monument,

That you passed at the start,

It was just a marble statue,

Of my badly broken heart,

It was by the tree of wishes,

That never can come true ,

By the garden of remembrance,

Where every flower’s blue,

And out there in the distance,

Is the hill of shattered pride,

The cross you see upon it,

Is the place where my heart died,

Starved of love and kindness,

It died through lack of care,

And is buried in the graveyard,

Of unanswered prayers,

In the plot next door to happiness,

That was just to hard to find,

So let me bid you welcome,

As you wander through my mind,

Tread the path of loneliness,

To the field of deep regret,

See a mind in agony,

As it tries to forget,

The centrepiece are photos,

Of the woman that was mine,

Please let me bid you welcome,

As you wander through my mind.

Beautiful words as always.I love your poems
and I am so glad that the sad times are past for you.
Also,I am very happy and thankful to God that the marble
monument (your heart)
that I passed at the start
is now put back together so perfectly.
Best wishes always
from
your fan and pal
Kay.
