"China's current building boom is doing more than sucking up the world's supply of steel -- it's creating a stage for some of today's boldest architecture and engineering.

It's a hotbed of innovative architecture, from diaphanous theaters to buildings heated and cooled by water"

They are getting ready to wow the world when they host the 2008 Olympics!

Thanks Sherry, most interesting pics!

Let's not forget China in world relationships!A real super power!

I had a message for today
But it got lost along the way
As lifes anomalies intruded
On the love I hoped to portray

If I could only have  one wish
It would be to end all gibberish
For in this world of mass illusion
Senseless chatter breeds confusion

There is no place left to find answers
Leaders are the best elusive dancers
Dancing around issues,never solved
Perhaps some, have yet to evolve

Serenity and comfort long gone
What do we hang our hopes upon
When mixed opinions lose control
God waits to see what's in our soul

While we wait for God to perform
miracles, He waits for us to show
Him why He should!

Good poem, Eileen. The sounds of too much talking makes me physically sick. There are women and men who never shut up.

The advances in China are amazing... but I too am mistrustful of their actions. An excellent poem.. well written in content and flow!

China is indeed a super power but i can't get over how the elite power base steals the land from the poor without compensation, placing them in tents, building these awesome edifices around them and leaving them to fend on their own ... just too many human rights issues left unanswered ...

excellent poem ...

Isn't this the country that killed the female babies ? That sort of control is archaic. China is so advanced in some areas and backasswards in others. Thank you for an informative write and a chance to be vocal.

I don't think China should make everything
in the world.
America needs to make their own, but greed
will never let that happen....

I just love the Art of Architecture, in all its shapes , forms and designs..
In particular I adore Escher's work !

As for China, we always bear in mind that they are still an oppressive Communist Regime, that tramples on Human Rights and persecutes the innocent people of Tibet, notwithstanding they ( China ) are arming Iran and Syria to the teeth, to attack Americans , British and Israelis in the Middle East..

Good stuff. Personally, I am of the mind that China is playing a far bigger role in the mess in the Middle East and eslewhere. Yes, they have allowed some captalism to come there, quite a lot, actually, but they still have their bootheels firmly on the necks of anyone who speaks out of line. You wrote this about the many voices which bombard the airways and the ones behind those closed door that we don't know about. Except here in America. We like to leak. Do that in China, see what it gets you. Sorry, got carried away, loved the poem.
