Alone

We’re born alone

We search for love,
companionship, family

The beauty of Mother Earth surrounds us
Our native brothers paid homage
The earth was sacred to them

We learn and grow in our youth
Time forever moves forward

Young lovers capture the moon
The light shines down upon them
The cosmos are forever, timeless

Our youth is fleeting
and age takes its place
awaiting us

We grow wiser in our winters
Our spring and summer has shown
us fall and our destiny

We search for happiness
Sometimes we find sorrow
Our tears are our smiles

Life goes by so quickly
and we don’t know the day or time
We wish to prolong life

Some of us are still searching for love
and our soul mate

We die alone

actually I'm not searching anymore..now I know he is within me..thus even when I die I won't be doing it alone..see the difference?

This may be a bit sad but it is a philosophical truth about our life here. Thank you, Dale. Love and peace to you,

Bittersweet understanding here, Dale. Penned with such sensitivity, grace... and with a sense of gratitude and contentment - a sense of oneness and harmony - with all that life has already bestowed. But yet that nagging little gap somewhere, the need to share when we don't even know WHAT it is we want to.. the need to be heard and understood without even breathing a word? Sharing just the sense of moment and being?! Can relate to every syllable of this comprehensive poem and appreciate it both on a human and spiritual level. Even when sorrounded by the crowd, by friends and family, we can still feel that aloneness. But having an awareness of the overarching presence of God means that both in life and death, I need never fear being alone. I personally enjoy "aloneness" but have never suffered loneliness... until that little concept of "soul mate" rears its head... Much to ponder here, Dale. A laid-bare and tender write, thank you. LOL Kate xx

Nice poem, but we are not alone, invite the Lord into your heart and see how happy you will be.

Well Dale. I don't know about you, but there were a lot of people in the hospital room when I was born. ROFL. Dying alone...now that is something else again.

Love it, though made me blue.

sometimes, no matter how long we search or how far we go, our love still goes answered ... but even if it did, we'd still die alone ...

excellent poem, Dale ...

A philosophically poignant and emotionally powerful meditation on this journey we call life. Sobering and beautiful at the same time.

Life truly does passes us by much too quickly - I best get out there and do something today, while I still can.
