Life ambushed us today,
Not unlike it has before,
But weíre still smiling,
Like it was any other day.
Just hold me close,
And Iíll make it go away,
As is my promise to you,
Or any other day.

I hate challenges like this,
Left powerless to fight.
If only it was an outlaw;
I could meet him at high noon.
ďTake ten paces and turn, you weasel,
And Iíll drop you before you draw.Ē
But thereís nobody to duel,
And no advantage to be gained.
We must search our souls for confidence,
And trust someone who we barely know.

You are the reason
That I draw my breath,
And you are the person
Who gives meaning to my life.
Weíve heard the news,
And both of us agree.
Itís nothing;
But if for some reason it is,
Then itís still nothing,
Certainly nothing that we canít bear.

You are a jewel,
And more than this,
You are mine.
Itís not as if I possess you,
For that could never be the case.
But I am filled in every measure,
With the essence of you,
And I know that there is nothing I will allow to harm you,
And I know that I could never bear the pain.
