...Sometimes you find you don't really know what controls your circumstances.

Oh, how mercurial the things

 of the world are.

Yesterday it seemed to run

Would save me from yesterday’s troubles.

Alas, today I see myself standing still

In the midst of today’s trials.

Puzzles are hurled at me

Each step of my journey.

Puzzles which I must unravel

Not just to light the path

To the future,

But which lead to a future

Equally puzzle-laden.

How do I then prepare for tomorrow?

How then do I save myself from sorrow?

Yesterday I ran,

Today I stand still.

Tomorrow I might be forced to fly

Or crawl.

How do I know except

Wait till tomorrow,

Tomorrow when it might be too

Late to prepare?
