Somalia has plunged itself in a clan-based war which wreaked devastating havoc upon its country and people.

In the 40’s her father was a freedom fighter
She had lost him in the war with the Italians
At early age though, she married to a soldier
He has been killed in Somali-Ethiopian war
She had become a single parent raising children
When the dispute with the Ethiopians was solved
Somalia went to a clan-based war with itself
Armed struggle against the regime had started
Her elder son was murdered in a factional war
In the horrible fire fight with the US Rangers
She had buried two more of her male children
She is old now and desperately ill and helpless
Thinking of what War had done to her family
In Mogadishu she lives with her young daughter
Who herself is raising a child born out of rape

All stories from war are sad; no one is the winner. You pen the pain and heartbreak powerfully; maybe one day (hopefully soon) mankind will head your words and act responsibly. That is my prayer for you, your family, your Nation--peace, beautiful peace.

(((HUGS))), love and prayer *stay safe*, Karla.

Abdi-Noor, how does the heart bear this much sadness and tragedy? Thank goodness for voices such as yours that capture the human sorrow and spread it to the world. Well done.

Oh Abdi-Noor, you capture the tragic story of those multitudes whose lives are circumscribed by profound loss in every possible way. One wonders when the world rise to the challenge of pro-active humanity, instead of manufacturing useless wars of greed... We truly do choose to do it to ourselves, don't we, Poet?
Peace and Blessings,

Abdi Noor, you open our eyes to Somalia's grief. Somalia has become a constant in my prayers. I would have never known her without you and Safi opening my eyes and introducing us.
