On a rainy day, on route to Manhattan a poet writes a poem about waiting for a poem.

On Metro North platform,
in morning rain,
comes the 9:43 train.
I pore over poetry book,
forget to look
out window, on
Hudson ripples
below Bannerman Island fog,
where do
my verses lie, no clue
Shakespeare, Blake, Bishop.

125th Street in Harlem,
I glance up and out,
mid-morning gloom blooms,
couples and singles waiting.

I pore over Revelation,
remember to look up,
at the ceiling,
in Grand Central Terminal.
Greenish blue night sky
shimmering gold leaf stars
connecting winter constellations
Pleiades, Orion,
angels and mythical gods,
all waiting for a poem.

Angela, I really like this poem. Like what Aberjhani says below about living one by writing about the waiting, too. Nice work, Dawn

Reading these lines, I kept thinking that while waiting for a poem the poet was living one. Enjoyed the read very much.
