A Hoodwinkin’ Sidewinder came on the scene,
with blithe tongue he did answer those dreams
of people across the Christian land
believing all would be well with his slight of hand.
Disciples soon followed, his band would grow;
they took over the land as a sandstorm would blow.
He warned all others who’d not agree with his plot,
they were evil, Patriots they were not.
This drugstore cowboy, an absent soldier he,
soon brought us to war, the reasons were three:
The WMD; Bring Down a Despot; Fight Terrorists.
How reasons did change as he crossed off his list.
Soon power did corrupt, causing many a fright
and as years passed, things just weren’t tight.
The nation tumbled and faltered in dismay;
the Sidewinder was leading the nation astray.
Thanks be, people awakened to their plight.
‘Twas time to make changes, to set things right.
Disband his band, was first they did change;
working hard, their government they did rearrange.
We’ve now shown to the world and Iraq
that a Democracy works if we don’t sit back –
if we don’t let religious ones dictate our vote,
and cause our nation division, a nation remote.
To those newly elected we would plead:
Use leadership wisely, don’t be tempted by greed;
it is with faith in you, with power we do anoint,
to reunite our nation, to bring peace… don’t disappoint.
