Unspoken Slavery

Some Somali girls run away from their families in the rural areas after their parents force them to accept an arranged marriage. So a girl would end up in the city where she has to look for someone hailing from her clan or tribe. The host family will exploit the poor girl by making her an unpaid house maid in the pretext of supporting her on clan basis so long as she knows no one else in the city.

She cleans the house
Cooks the food
Washes the cloth
Feeds the chicken
Tends for the animals
Cares for the children
She is the beast of burden
Yet she receives no payment
Nor entitled for any leave
And sometimes she is beaten
She is a victim of unspoken slavery
