Remember the fun Times...?

Remember when we were kids,

Even if in life we were on the skids,

Snow meant days off from school,

Snowball fights, never being cruel…

No worries of driving in the snow,

Will I get to work on time in this blow,

Just happy feelings of playing with friends,

Above all else happiness transcends…

Snow on the beach was for me a trip,

My parents though needed to get a grip,

If the weather was cold enough to snow,

And it was able to lay on the beach,

Maybe the salt water would freeze,

Making ice hockey within reach…

No surfing in the dead of winter,

Not even the bravest went out,

Long before wet suit technologies came about,

But the waves were there for us to about dream,

Mom & dad in the background reminding us against the frosty extremes…

Still, it was a cold s-o-a-bitch. Remember trying to skate on a pond at 20 below zero. And then trying to bicycle back home against the wind. Saved by a warm farm house, popcorn, and a pickup truck ride home.

I remember the good old snow days, Ed...isn't it great to be older and have so many memories to fall back on as we do? Thank you for your sharing poem.

What is it about Winter and Christmastime that causes us all to reminisce about our youth? :o) Those carefree, daring-do days!

Thanks for this, Ed...and the pic. Living on the South Texas Gulf Coast for 10-1/2 years, I couldn't have imagined snow on the coastline.

This reminded me of a trip I planned for my children...We rented a chalet on Seven Devils Mt in Boone, NC, it would be their first time seeing snow. But, lo and behold, as we were packing the car, it was snowing right in our Florida front yard!
A memory returns...thanks for the write and stay out of the cold water!
Love and Peace~
