The American Bishops have come out in the open to raise their voice against the UN decision to send African peacekeeping troops to Somalia, which was proposed by the US administration and approved by the Security Council yesterday. Islamic court clerics reacted violently against the deployment and vowed rhetorically that they will carry out a Jihad war against the troops being deployed on the Somali Soil.

WASHINGTON, D.C., DEC. 7, 2006 (Zenit.org).- The U.S. bishops are urging National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley to work more aggressively with the United Nations and neighboring African countries to address increasing violence in Somalia.
"Rising tensions, militarization and a lack of genuine dialogue have created a situation where a major conflict has become increasingly likely," said Bishop Thomas Wenski, chairman of the U.S. Episcopal conference's international policy committee, in a letter to Hadley.
"Military action is not the solution to this problem," the bishop of Orlando stated. "Civilians, especially women and children, would bear the brunt of any violence, |

Sisters of peace and serenity
Coming from the same origin
Sent in by the same God
Serving for the same purpose
Preaching religious tolerance
Observing love and humanity

That is what the US Bishops are doing
Their bold move is an act of good faith
We must praise their heartfelt concern
We should give back a fair reciprocate

"Military action is not the solution to this problem,"

| So sorry the peace offering in the way of help has been regected. I agree with Victor below. Yes it is true war, fighting, is wrong but God does allow us to defend ourselves against the wicked, evil. Keep on praying for the PEACE Marguerite |

| Bishops should always preach peace. It is love that is the solution to all the ills of this world. But man choses power and its evil for their own purposes. Victor |

| Dear Brother Abdi-Noor I wholeheartedly agree with you in this piece for peace. I am weary of these varied religions thinking they have Gods' original plan and vision while they attempt to hold God hostage to fit thier own ends. Since when did war become holy? It is in my judgment and abomination whether it be called a Crusade or Jihad. God is love, harmony and peace. will they never learnhow to exercise faith. PLB&G for caring and sharing.
