“There's nothing sadder in this world,

Than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child,

At least in your heart.”

Erma Bombeck

‘I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,’

Music and Lyrics by John Rox

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas,

Only a hippopotamus will do,

Don't want a doll, no dinky Tinker Toy,

I want a hippopotamus, to play with, and enjoy

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas,

I don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?

He won't have to use our dirty chimney flue,

Just bring him through the front door,

That's the easy thing to do!

I can see me now on Christmas morning,

Creeping down the stairs,

Oh what joy and what surprise,

When I open up my eyes,

To see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas,

Only a hippopotamus will do,

No crocodiles, no rhinoceroses,

I only like hippopotamuses,

And hippopotamuses like me, too

My wife says that a hippopotamus would eat me up,

but my animal book says that a hippo is a vegeterian

And there's lots of room for him in our old two-car garage,

I'd feed him there, and wash him there, and give him his massage

I can see me now on Christmas morning,

Creeping down the stairs,

Oh what joy and what surprise,

When I open up my eyes,

To see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas,

Only a hippopotamus will do,

No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses,

I only like hippopotamuseses,

And hippopotamuses like me too!

(I Sure Hope My Wife Gets the Hint,

I’ve Been Singing This Song for Weeks Now,

And I Know She Wants to Top

The Toaster I Got Her Somehow)

But if She Can’t Find a Hippo,

A Lovely Moose Will Do,

For Some Strange Reason,

These Mooses Like Me, Too)

Do you have a deep river? Hippos live there you know, not in a garage. Oh Mr Ed, be content with your pink flamingos. Victor

Ed, you can have mine if you don't get your wish. My hippo has ruined my back yard and he won't come out of the creek when I call him. He never listens and eats all the foliage in my yard and now he's eating my neighbor's yard too. Great one! I love it.

The Man Who Saved Christmas by Jeff Ovall

Christmas - only days away; plastic snowmen and glowing reindeer adorn the lawns of neighborhoods all across America. All is calm, all is bright, and yet there is something tragic..
