Wishing..a merry christmas to one and all.

Christmas is over...

replaced by advertising execs

who just want your cc's and cheques?

There's no santa

without a hand over your money

it will open "Lapland's" doors.

The poor are pushed aside

the depressed commit suicide

Another soul in the news today

threw themselves under a train

and died

At Covent garden station

but the commuters could not stop

except to mutter

"oh not again"

not much thought for his anguish or  pain

just more "delays" till they clear

what remained

And yet it rains

another day

let us pray

maybe i'm wrong

as the carol singers

pull out a song

the homeless are offered shelter

for just one holy night

but those that refuse lie

like refuge that line London's streets

once proud..a pitiful sight

And yet the city glimmers

and glitters for all that are well

the mentally ill cannot see past

the darkness

their mere existence is hell

And the children and pets

that are abused

As Big Ben chimes merrilly

bringing on the christmas cheer

some are left battered and emotionally torn

cringing in fear

as people, neighbours, pretend they can't hear

I remember a time when people did care

more openly

and communities lived in harmony

The chrismas ghosts of christmas past

flicker as i am reminded of my own childhood

or maybe i was wrapped in cotton wool

and sheltered from the world and it's harsh reality

how can i enjoy christmas when the world is sick catastrophically?

each to their own

but spare a thought for those

who are alone

with no one to fend for them or care

starvation and hunger

whilst politicians continue their banter

for votes and hamper real progress

with their hidden agenda

"me first" the rest of the world later

it's not too late

for amnesty and peace

Christ was born

and died as sacrifice

he cried real tears of blood

So let's spare a thought

And remember christmas

for it's true worth

give thanks and praise

for all men living

and peace for our fragile earth.

A great message in this poem!
We need to get more Biblically correct!
Are we not tired of hearing all the political lies.
Who can we belive in?
There is only one way and it is to look up on high.
The Bible gives us hope for all.
The politicians change with the wind and
their message is so hollow..
While our God in Heaven gives us eternal life.
God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow!

Merry Christmas!

That is why I cannot feel the so-called "magic" of Christmas. That "magic" ought to be there all year long. Thank you for this, Andrea. Blessings to you,

Andrea this is so powerful and yes Christmas is over from the government and big media stores to the signing off Christmas as the official name of this Holy Holiday to The Homelss being attached and left hopeless in Las Vegas and around the country. Man does not do WHAT JESUS WOULD DO.
Thank you for sharing this piece.
Have a blessed Christmas in Jesus name.
Always pray for those that have not yet received the eternal gift of life.

The other side of Christmas...let us hope and pray for the many who are lost and have been left alone...that Christmas will be more than sadness and loneliness...

nice work on bringing this view forward...
