Can you bargain with Death when he comes calling? What would you say?
I wrote 'Delay' after Karen was transfered to MICU on 11/15/06; I was angry. Upset. And very, very scared; this poem was the result.
|
Angel of Death, did you ever live? Know the meaning of love? How can you Take the one I love? I do not give You permission. She's mine, not yours. To Take her would kill me. I'm not ready -- Seeing my loved one out like a light, Pale; weakened; vital signs unsteady -- I'm not ready to give up the fight! What can be done to make you delay Your decision? Do we have a say?
(c) 2006, Karla Dorman. (11/15)

A very powerful write, sweet Karla. What comes to mind when I read this is ... for whatever reason, the Angel of Death did listen, and thank God. Bless you!

I can imagine your torment, here, Karla. I would have taken my case to Jehovah, though, for it is He who knowns the beginning and the end, and through Jesus defeated the sting of death. I'm sure glad Jehovah has other plans for Karen. Her work here is not yet finished. Your love for your twin is as it should be.
God Bless
Love, Lena |

Strong emotions come into play when the life of the ones we love are in danger. We seek not to let go and offer their souls and their bodies back to the earth, we tend as humans to want to hold onto them for ever. I am glad you recieved an extension on your sister's life and may it be a long one.

A beautiful poem of your thoughts during this time of crisis! Know that even the Angel of Death cannot overtake God's intercession for life! Your and Karen's strengths, all the prayers, were heard by the Almighty.
May this New Year bring more peace and joy to the both of you, Karla and Karen.

this poem proves that passion is not delegated simply to romantic relationships. Your anger at the times comes through in this work. You, like Karla, were and are very, very strong. May God continue to bless you both.
